2019 is just around the corner and one of the biggest New Year’s resolutions people make is to get in shape or lose weight. I fell into that category many years ago, so I was definitely part of the masses.
Something has changed, though. After this year’s health struggles, I have no desire to lose weight, fit into clothes other than the ones I currently wear, or find myself sporting a new, toned body. Nope. Health has taken on a whole new meaning for me this year.
This year, I want to simply FEEL healthy in whatever shape and form that comes in. For me it’s not about the aesthetics, it’s about how I feel and show up in this world.
I want to know that I am fueling my body with high quality nutrients which, in turn, will energize me, ward off infections, and ultimately, keep my body feeling ALIVE.
WHAT ARE YOU WISHING FOR THIS NEW YEAR?
As the new year approaches, are you looking for a way to feel your healthiest? Perhaps you’re looking to experiment with how your body reacts to different foods. I think experimenting with your nutrition is a great idea, especially if you’re not feeling your best.
Maybe you’re lacking energy or finding yourself feeling anxious or depressed more than you’d like. Perhaps you’re realizing that you are constantly sick with colds and other “yucks”. Or maybe you want to lose weight because you know that obesity fuels cancer.
I’d like to encourage you to experiment with what you’re putting into your body and make a conscious effort to leave out what doesn’t serve you.
I am not a nutritionist, and I am very much on the experimental path of this, but I do believe that what you leave out is just as important as what you put in your body. That goes for food, skin products, environmental toxins, etc. You catch my drift…
After my breast explant surgery, I started drinking celery juice every morning on an empty stomach as part of my recovery process. Why celery juice, you ask?
What I have learned is that plain celery juice contains A LOT of beneficial healing properties that I wanted to bring to my body to restore my health. So let’s talk about juicing for a minute.
To Juice or Not to Juice
Juicing is one of my all-time favorite ways to get nutrients into my body. Juices are refreshing, easily digestible, and somehow manage to infuse my body with instant happiness and energy.
I started juicing back in 2007 and felt amazing! Since starting a family, I fell away from the daily juicing practice I had adopted for so many years, and I have loooooonged to get back to it.
Now that I am healing from quite possibly the most challenging year of my adult life, I feel called to juice again. While I love juicing all kinds of vegetables and fruits, I am currently only juicing celery. I was turned on to celery juice from Anthony William (aka the Medical Medium). Here’s why…
THE BENEFITS OF CELERY JUICE
Celery juice is super powerful, especially when juiced by itself. The key is to drink it on an empty stomach! I drink it first thing in the morning because my stomach is naturally empty at that point AND it helps my digestion for the rest of the day.
For those that know me, my digestion is one of the most troublesome parts of my body. Since having breast implants, I developed weird food intolerances and my digestion tanked. I have been plagued with severe bloating, cramping, occasional loose stool, and lower back pain for years.
I now know that drinking celery juice raises my stomach’s hydrochloric acid, which helps me break down and assimilate the food I am eating. At the same time, it helps balance my body’s pH and cleanse and repair my stomach, digestive tract, and liver.
Since drinking celery juice, my bowels have been very active (in a good way) and I have not had any intestinal cramping whatsoever!
Celery juice is an anti-inflammatory, which I really need right now in my healing journey. My body was incredibly inflamed and reacting in debilitating ways in response to all the inflammation.
I was struggling with dry skin, achy joints, headaches, muscle tension, dry eyes, ridged fingernails, tingling, food intolerances, and puffiness to name a few inflammatory responses.
If you suffer from chronic illness and “autoimmune” conditions (i.e. Hashimotos, diabetes, fibromyalgia, RA, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, IBS, eczema, psoriasis, bloating, GOUT, vertigo, Lyme disease, migraines, and many more), celery juice is really helpful in reversing inflammation that comes along with these.
You see, celery juice starves pathogens and unproductive bacteria that cause those conditions. How exactly does this happen?
Well, celery juice delivers mineral salts to the various viruses and bacteria in our body and breaks down the cell membranes ultimately destroying them. Hooray! A big culprit is the Ebstein-Barr virus.
Whether you have had mononucleosis (Mono for short) or not, you should get tested to see if you carry the Ebstein-Barr virus. Let’s kill off that sucker. It’s responsible for so many misdiagnosed illnesses out there, according to Anthony William.
If you’re looking for more proof of the healing powers of celery juice, evidence abounds. It’s all around!
People who have been drinking celery juice on an empty stomach have healed so many conditions. Even children’s conditions have disappeared or drastically improved by incorporating celery juice into their daily routine!
It’s mind-blowing how such a simple practice can cure so much! Check out www.celeryjuice.com for in depth testimonials.
DELIVERS MINERAL SALTS
Celery’s mineral salts are antibacterial and have the ability to kill of bacteria such as strep (which I found I have lurking in my body even though I’ve never had strep throat!).
I learned that the streptococcus bacteria can cause conditions such as UTIs, chronic sinus infections, IBS, and SIBO (small intestinal bacteria overgrowth). Celery juice can help heal all of these conditions!
IMPROVES THYROID CONDITIONS
Additionally, celery juice has the ability to bolster thyroid functioning, particularly the production of the T3 hormone. It also cleanses the thyroid of toxins.
BALANCES YOUR pH
Celery juice naturally strengthens your stomach’s hydrochloric acid which helps your body digest the food you’re eating. If your hydrochloric acid levels are out of whack, your body likely won’t break down the food and get the nutrients needed.
Instead, undigested food sits in your stomach and digestive tract then rots. Gross! Rotting food then creates bad acids to develop. Mmmm, no thanks!
I have been told for years that I have a sluggish liver. Actually, many practitioners referred to it as a “weak liver”. Well, celery juice is an incredible tonic for liver repair and for people just like me. It can repair the damaged cells inside the liver and help it function optimally.
Fun fact: Did you know that your liver regenerates itself every 6 weeks?! Yep, we are all given a new liver every 6 weeks! Crazy, right!? Man, our bodies are so incredible!
I don’t know about you, but I want to give my liver the best chance at being its healthiest self by providing it the healing nutrients it needs to do its job well! Bring on the celery juice!
LET’S GET JUICING!
So now that you know a little about celery juice, are you ready to try it for yourself and see how you feel? Here is how to do it!!
- The best way is to use a juicer. I love my Omega juicer (totally worth the investment)! If you don’t have a juicer, you can blend it in a blender and then strain thoroughly into your glass.
- You want enough celery to make 16oz of fresh celery juice each morning. Organic celery is best, but any celery will do. (BE SURE TO WASH IT!)
- Drink 16oz on an empty stomach for best results. You can opt to drink hot lemon water before your celery juice to prime your liver.
- If you cannot drink your juice first thing in the morning, drink it 15-30 minutes before or after eating something.
- You can increase your intake to 24-32oz/day for great benefits especially if you have chronic illness.
- Celery works BEST alone, but if you absolutely cannot stand the taste by itself, you can add one apple or cucumber. (Again, it’s most beneficial solo)
- REAP THE BENEFITS! Challenge yourself to drink celery juice every day for a month. See how you feel!
INTRIGUED AND WANT TO KNOW MORE?
I really hope you decide to give this healing practice a try in your life. I have been juicing celery since November 28 this year (only missing 2 days due to lack of celery).
So I’m currently on week 4. I can honestly tell you, my skin is softer and smoother, my bowels are very happy and moving quite nicely, and I haven’t had a migraine since my surgery! Can I get an amen?!
I really enjoy my morning routine of hot lemon water, celery juice, then breakfast. I believe my body is thanking me for treating it so nicely.
What I am most curious about is if the Streptococcus bacteria that showed up in my functional medicine GI MAP test will be gone as a result of celery juicing. I will definitely keep you posted in the months to come when I retest.
